National Dialogue: The diaspora given a chance to make contributions
As part of pre-dialogue consultations chaired by the Prime Minister, Head of Government Chief Doctor Joseph Dion Ngute, delegations have been dispatched to some countries to consult members of the diaspora.
The aim of the diaspora consultation is to assemble opinion and proposals to serve as a working document during the Major National Dialogue to take place on 30th September through 4th of October 2019.
Correspondent reports talk of a generally cordial atmosphere as many Cameroonians have responded positively to President Paul Biya’s peace offer.
The delegations that are already holding talks with different groups met a highly mobilised diaspora.
In a twitter message, Cameroon’s High Commissioner to Great Britain, Albert Fotabong posted;
“#GrandNationalDialogue. Bravo London. Congratulations on the degree of response and contribution”
Reports from other areas however mentioned out-spoken skeptics present in some of the meetings.
Some brandished the release of a political party leader held in prison as condition to sit around the dialogue table to find solutions to the socio-political crisis in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon.
