Elecam: Board members prepare for future elections
Members of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon have met in their 3rd Ordinary Session of 2019.
The session was opened in Yaounde this Tuesday, 9th October 2019 by the Chairman of the Board, Enow Abrams Egbe.
He told members that the sessions Would evaluate the just ended period and projections for next year that would be marked by municipal and legislative elections.
Enow Abrams Egbe said ELECAM will meet its target of seven million registered voters this year.
He said by the close of electoral registration in August 2019, more than 7million people had registered and when the cleaning up of the register will be completed Elecam could reach its target.
The Chairman of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), also said the elections management body is ready to adapt to any changes that may come from recommendations of the just ended Major National Dialogue.
Enow Abrams Egbe added that his institution is aware of the need to support peace building projects through dialogue, strengthening of Social Cohesion and national unity in order to ensure peace and Development in the country.
In this regard Elecam has set up dialogue platforms with stakeholders of the electoral process to ensure inclusive dialogue and information sharing for early identification of potential risks and mitigation of adverse effects of Misinformation and violent extremism before, during and after elections.
