Economic importance of Edea – Kribi (Lolabe) – Campo railway line

Phase one of the railway line project is from Edea – Kribi (Lolabe) – Campo near the border with Equatorial Guinea. Upon completion, the 184.59 Km stretch line will facilitate the transit of goods between the Kribi deep-sea port and the Central African Republic.
The project will give more value to Cameroon’s mining sector and create an industrial synergy, between the ports of Douala, Limbe and Lolabe in Kribi.

It will also foster economic development especially through private investments on activities linked to the railway line and enhance national integration.

According to experts, the train line should have a train for commodities with a 227 wagons and 10 locomotives, with a capacity of 1,400 tons solely for goods.

It will also have 10 passenger carriers with two locomotives that have a capacity of 800 passengers each.

Economic importance of Douala – Limbe – Idenau railway line

Phases 2 of the project links the two seaports covering a distance of 73km from Douala to Limbe and an extension of 34 km to Idenau.

The studies revealed that the train line should have a train for commodities with 41 wagons and two locomotives with a capacity of 1,400 tons for goods.

It will also have 48 passenger carriers with six locomotives that have a capacity of 800 passengers each.

The project will help decongest the west entrance of Douala, across the Wouri River to Bonaberi.

It will also ease transportation between Tiko and Limbe. The port of Limbe; Limboh and /or Isongo points as well as Idenau will also be accessible by train. Transportation from the Naval Base and SONARA will also be made easy.
