The Social Democratic Front – SDF party will take part in the February 9, 2020 elections in Cameroon.
The National Chairman of Cameroon’s led opposition party, Ni John Fru Ndi, issued a release the puts to rest doubts of the party boycotting the legislative and municipal elections.
In his release the SDF leader instructs all outgoing Members of Parliament at the National Assembly, Mayors and councillors to compile their candidature files for forthcoming elections.
He however invites members who are not interested in taking part in the parliamentary or council elections to state their stance in writing addressed to the head of the party’s investiture committee.
The statement from the chairman of the SDF comes barely days after the party decided at a NEC meeting in Douala to boycott the elections if urgent measures are not taken to end to the socio political unrest in the North West and South West regions.
The press release from the SDF chairman comes barely a day after the Director General of Elections at Elections Cameroon, Erik Essouse invited political parties to summit their candidatures for the twin elections and the corresponding ELECAM branches with 15 days as from Monday, November 11, 2019 as stipulated by the electoral code.
