37-year old former Indomitable Lions midfielder, Mbami Modeste has declined an appointment as the Team Manager of the Intermediate lions of Cameroon.
The 2000 Olympic medalist with Cameroon made his intentions in a press document this Monday November 18, 2019.
What Are His Reasons?
In the communique, Mbami Modeste argues that he learnt of his appointment on social media sites. Loosely translated from French to English, Mbami Modeste states that “an important appointment like this requires discussions with the concerned notably on the terms and conditions of work and concluded with a contract’’
According to Mbami Modeste, some of his former teammates have been poorly treated and shamefully dismissed from positions like this.
In his view, the former player thinks football in Cameroon has been plagued with a lot of challenges and needs a proper in-house cleaning.
These and many other reasons explains why Mbami Modeste declined to accept the prestigious in the Lion’s den.
The former Cameroonian international player was appointed as the Team Manager of the U-23 Lions on Friday November 15, 2019 by the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT.
He was appointed alongside the following;

#Fitness coach: Zagaba Joseph / Essomba Atangana Phillipe
#Video Analyst: Olama Zilly Jean Christian.
#Team Press Officer: Barkah Derick.
The crew had an assignment to prepare the team for the upcoming 2020 Africa Nations Championship, CHAN to be hosted by Cameroon.
Worthy of note is the fact that Mbami Modeste played with Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint Germaine in France. The midfielder capped thirty-eight times with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon scoring thrice.
The 37-year was also part of the 2003 team that reached the finals of the African confederations cup.
