National Assembly: Bill to Institute the General Code of Regional and Local Authorities tabled

Shortly after the solemn opening of the Extraordinary Session of parliament at 11:00am at the National Assembly, by the Speaker of the House Chamber Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, bill number 1065/PJ/AN to Institute the General Code of Regional and Local Authorities was tabled at the Chairman’s Conference.

The Chairman’s conference which comprises, the Speaker of the National Assembly and Heads of different parliamentary groups of the National Assembly, examined and deemed admissible the government bill.

 

The bill was then presented in a plenary session chaired by the senior Vice President, Hon Hilarion Etong. During the brief session, Hon Hilarion Etong announced that the bill has been forwarded to the constitutional laws committee that will examine it.

He also indicated that the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam will defend the bill at the committee level and subsequently in plenary.
