The African Fabric Is Gradually Gaining Grounds

Majority of Cameroonians today dress with African Fabric and use it for various purposes.

According to the organizer of “Pagne En Folie” Festival, Nelson Touomou, “10 years back Cameroonians were not really engaged in using African Fabric but nowadays they go for it”.

The Festival is currently taking place at the Solomon Tadeng Muna foundation. “Pagne en folies” Festival is producing all forms sewing dresses, house decorations, or customized accessories like bags, Bangles, necklace, shoes, bottles, amongst others.

Visiting the various exhibition stands of “pagne en folie” festival, aimed at promoting and valorising African print, the items proposed by the exhibitors are purely made with African fabric and clients go for it, proving Cameroonians are gradually going back to their roots.

The Promoter of this festival further elaborates that,if such event holds frequently,the number of Cameroonians going for African Fabric will increase. He called on Cameroonians to learn how to love and appreciate their own products instead of adopting European outfits.
Some visitors met at the “pagne en folie” festival attest, they prefer dresses made with the African Print because it’s original, distinct from others when they go for events abroad.

Still talking about African print, all the 10 regions of Cameroon can be easily differentiated thanks to the various attires made with print.
