COVID-19 : Archbishop Samuel Kleda proposes a herbal remedy

The Archbishop of Douala, His grace Samuel Kleda has made an attempt at treating symptoms of the #COVID-19 with a herbal remedy,  free of charge.

According to the prelate, some staff of the diocese  caught the disease after coming in contact with positive cases of the COVID-19. The herbal remedy was administered and the patients were reportedly relieved of pains .

But when the sickness was reported , the man of God knew the kind of herbs to concocte.

“I already knew the plants to use with regards to the symptoms of the Coronavirus . I simply put together these combinations , prepared and gave to persons who were experiencing symptoms of the virus, and they were relieved. It is my pleasure to see persons who consume the remedy healthy “.

The man of God says the remedy particularly targets respiratory problems.

” Our target is respiratory problems because according to studies, COVID-19 attacks the lungs. We have prepared a concoction which purifies and liberates the lungs, so that the sufferer can feel fine”.

Is  this remedy the cure for COVID-19 ?

It is not yet clear whether or not the herbal remedy cures the deadly virus .

However, His grace Samuel Kleda says the response is left in the hands of scientific researchers .

” We work like real healers. When someone presents symptoms, we administer  the remedy, and if the person is cured or the pains cease, healers say the person is healed or no longer sick. What counts for me is that the person is alive and has appetite . But it is still difficult to say we have had a cure for the virus. However, scientific researchers will have to confirm that”.

The patients are followed up by the health department of the Douala diocese, coordinated by Dr. Kameni.

Archbishop Samuel Kleda stresses on the legal existence of the health structure.

“We are not illegal, we work like a health structure”.

The Public Health Minister weighs in

Since the Archbishop’s remedy was made public, the efficacy of the herbal remedy has fueled discussions, especially online. Some Cameroonians also made incessant calls to Public Health authorities to look into  the Bishop’s proposal for a joint collaboration.

In a recent tweet by the Public Health Minister Dr. Manaouda Malachie, in French , announced that a team of health experts had been dispatched to work with the prelate in Douala.

“I have written to the Archbishop instructing a team of health experts led by the Director of the Pharmacy to evaluate and see him through the experiment”.

The Minister’s  move has been greatly  applauded  by most Cameroonians abroad and back home . Many say there is certainly a silver lining in the dark clouds.

Passionate about herbal remedies

The Archbishop of Douala has 30 years of reasearch in herbal remedies to his credit.

This  passion was birthed many years back, when he was the Director of the St Paul Seminary in Guider.

” Necessity inspired my love for traditional medicine. We had many sick children, and no drugs to give them. So I got interested in treating kids with plants. It has become a passion. When I’m not reading my Bible, I study plants. I do that in spite of my job schedule”.

COVID-organics, another African herbal remedy

Many countries have gone in search of alternative treatment as the fast spreading COVID-19 wrecks havoc worldwide.

More than 3 million confirmed cases and over 200,000 deaths are currently on world record.

To effectively cure patients, the President of Madagascar,  Andry Rajoelina launched his country’s herbal remedy known as “COVID-Organics  “.

COVID-Organics

But the World Health Organization-WHO, has said there is yet no proof that the Malagasy remedy cures the virus.

However, the President of Senegal, Macky Sall has thrown his weight behind the African initiative, placing  an order of  some bottles of COVID-Organics.
