Covid-19 : Artists And Film Makers Use Their Skills To Raise Awareness On The Pandemic.

Cameroonian artists and film makers have produced a good number of tracks,short movies and skits to sensitize the public in order to stem the spread of the Corona Virus in the Country.

Music and theatre are very important tools for sensitization, and as such some artists and film makers have decided to use this means to educate Cameroonians during this period in order to fight against the Corona Virus pandemic.
Since the beginning of this virus in the Country they have come up with tracks,skits and short movies calling on Cameroonians to respect government’s measures so that together COVID-19 will be eradicated.
This is done using national languages: French and English, Pidgin English and some mother tongues for all Cameroonians to easily get the messages they pass across.
Some of the messages they pass across include:

– Washing of hands regularly with soap and water or using an antiseptic solution.

– Avoid shaking hands

– Respect of social distancing

– Cover mouth and nose with a flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing, or use disposable tissue and throw in thrash cans.

– Stay at home and use a face mask when going out.

– Call the toll free number 1510 if they have sypmtoms such as dry cough, fever, difficulties in breathing as indicated by the Ministry of Public Health and the World Health Organization, and many others to have more information

Examples of these artists who have released movies or songs are: Emmanuel Fonban a film maker, who released a short movie last week titled Coro Coro in English language already available on YouTube;
Rising star Lontum Yov Abzy is also one of the artists who is sensitizing the public on the pandemic through his song titled COVID-19 in Pidgin English, Shakespeare’s language, and Lamso, a mother tongue spoken in Banso, in the Northwest region of the Country;
T-Viang and Parfait Germain who released a song titled Corona Virus in English, French, Maka’a a language spoken in the East region and the Bassa mother tongue used in the Centre and Littoral region of Cameroon;
Ulrich Takam a Comedian, who two weeks ago released a skit showing Cameroonians how to wash hands and behave in public during this period as recommended by health experts.
Apart from the artists and film makers cited, there are others who are doing the same job, that of sensitizing the public to stop the propagation of the Corona Virus in Cameroon.
