Fighting COVID-19: How to Handle a Face Mask
As the Government of Cameroon insists that everyone should wear a face mask when in public spaces, the question many ask is, “How do we handle these masks?”
Experts in the sector of Public Health as well as the World Health Organiasation (WHO) have proposed some ways to correctly handle face masks.
1. Clean hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser before touching the mask.
2. Make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.
3. Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser or soap and water.
4. Replace the mask as soon as recommended, and if the mask is already damp.
5. Do not re-use single-use masks.
6. Remove the mask from behind and do not touch the front as it could be contaminated.
7. Properly dispose of used masks so as to avoid contamination.
8. Clean hands again with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser after removing mask.
