Cameroon may soon be seeing the silver lining in the dark cloud as the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI) says it is ready to produce Chloroquine tablets in a bid to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
This follows an authorisation the Ministry of Public Health granted MINRESI.
Speaking to the press, the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr Madeleine Tchuinte expressed her Ministry’s readiness to kickstart the process as soon as possible.
“We have the personnel and laboratories needed to produce Chloroquine,” she stated.
The Minister however, mentioned the lack of some raw materials which have to be imported from China or India.
This notwithstanding, she counts on China to supply the raw material to Cameroon within two weeks from when the order is placed.
To add up to the Minister’s statement, experts at the Ministry say they can produce close to 900 tablets of Chloroquine per day.
This news has put smiles on the faces of many Cameroonians who are praying for a solution to the COVID-19 pamdemic.
