The newly constructed Japoma 50000- seater capacity stadium in Cameroon will not host the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League semi-finals and finals as earlier previewed because of the ravaging #COVID19.
The President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Seidou Mbombo Njoya said this Monday, July 13, 2020 in a live facebook briefing that the decision is motivated by the continuous contamination of the Coronavirus.
This comes just two weeks when the CAF Executive Committee organised a virtual conference to clear the air on the future of African football and other related competitions.
Worthy to note is the fact that, Cameroon was bestowed the host right of the prestigious semi-finals and finals on May 2020 but the recalcitrant #COVID19 pandemic has been a menace to this move.
The competitions will be contested between Egyptian heavy weight, Al Ahly and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca while Zamalek Sporting Club of Egypt will pick on Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
Earlier in May, CAF noted that if Cameroon, the potential host do not provide appropriate health assurances amid the ongoing Coronavirus, Rwanda will be a good fit.
Just to note that, Rwanda falls among one of the least affected nations on the continent.
