Maroua: 109 Ex Fighters denounce Boko Haram

Security threats posed by Boko Haram are expected to decline further in parts of the Far North Region of Cameroon after 109 ex Boko Haram Fighters denounce the sect. Amongst the ex-fighters are 17 women.

The former members of the terrorist group were presented to the New Commander of the Multinational Joint Task force, Major General Ibrahim Yusuf during a visit to Sector One of the Force.

The General said that success in counter insurgency is also measured by the number of insurgents who are surrendering.

Nigerian born Major General Ibrahim Yusuf used the occasion to call on other Boko Haram Fighters to forsake the sect like their peers. He assured them of security by defence forces if the denounce the Sect.

The current 109 ex-fighters adds 155 who are at the transit Centre in Meri making a total of 264 former members who have forsaken the terrorist sect in the Far North Region.
