Cameroon international striker, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has started life in Bayern Munich with two goals in his first appearance earning him status of the Man of the Match.
Eric Choupo-Moting’s debut match with Bayern Munich was fielded this Thursday, October 15 against a Lower-league team, Duren in DFB Pokal game.
The centre-forward opened his goal account with a sublime finish after a fine assist from Senegalese forward Bouna Sarr at the 24th minute of play.
The second goal was scored by Thomas Muller in a penalty shot at the 36th minute.
Cameroonian born Choupo-Moting then grabbed his second goal some 15 minutes left to play to seal his side’s victory 3-0
Choupo-Moting’s impressive performance at the Allianz Arena has seen him being named the best player of the game.
Choupo-Moting, who is not new to German football after playing with Hamburger, Mainz 05 and Schalke 04 expressed his joy after the first good game with Bayern Munich
Speaking to Sky Sports, He said “It was a nice evening. I am happy to be back in Germany and glad I scored two goals. It was a good debut.”
“Paris wanted me to stay, but I turned them down. There were some interesting offers. My choice was made as soon as Bayern contacted my agents,” Choupo-Moting told the media.
“It wasn’t a shock they came in for me, but it’s a huge honour. They’re the Champions League holders, the biggest team in Germany. It’s a great league. Munich is a beautiful city. I am super happy.”
The striker will fall back to the field next with Bayern in their Bundesliga outing against Arminia Bielefeld this Saturday, October 17.
The Cameroon international signed with Bayern for a one year deal on free transfer after leaving French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Choupo-Moting has also played in England with Stoke City before the Premier League club was relegated to a lower division.
