Migration : Voluntary Repatriation And Reintegration Discussed In Yaounde
In less than three years, over 4400 men, women and children who migrated irregularly from Cameroon enroute to Europe have been voluntarily repatriated.
The information was disclosed by the Representative of the European Union Delegation to Cameroon during the meeting of the steering committee of Joint initiative for migrant protection and reintegration holding at the Ministry of External Relations in Yaounde.
He explained that the joint initiative between the Cameroon Government, the European Union and the international organisation for Migration seeks to encourage legal migration for education, tourism and business.
They desuade irregular migration through programs that will help young people have better lives in their hope country.
The fourth Steering Committee meeting of the joint initiative for migrant protection and reintegration was officially launched in Yaounde by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Islamic World, Adoum Gargoum.
Diplomats from European Union countries accredited to Yaounde and representatives of the civil society were invited to take part in the steering committee at the Ministry of External Relations.
The meeting is chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Muslim World, Adoum Gargoum.
The saluted the strides made so far and reaffirmed government’s commitment to enhance the fight against irregular migration.
The Minister called for a follow up of measures put in place for the reintegration of returning migrants.
