President Paul BIYA in Europe for a brief private visit

17/08/2009 The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA and Madam Chantal BIYA left Yaoundé on Saturday 15 August 2009 for a brief private visit to Europe
The Head of State and his wife arrived the Nsimalen International Airport at 11a.m. on Saturday morning and they were greeted on arrival by senior state personalities; Hon. CAVAYE YEGUIE DJIBRIL, Speaker of the National Assembly; Mr. Philemon YANG, Prime Minister and Head of Government; Mr. Laurent ESSO, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic; and Mr. Martin BELINGA EBOUTOU, Director of the Civil Cabinet. The esplanade was full of militants of the CPDM who had come to cheer the Presidential Couple as well as some members of JACHABI, a youth group that supports the activities of the First Lady.

President Paul BIYA had audiences with some of the state personalities, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic and the Director General of External Research, Mr. Bienvenu OBELABOUT. While the audiences were taking place, Madam Chantal BIYA had time to chat with the spouses of the senior state personalities.

Also on hand at the airport were Mr. René SADI, Minister in Charge of Special Duties at the Presidency of the Republic ; Mr. Peter AGBOR TABI, Assistant Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic; Mr. Séraphin Magloire FOUDA, Assistant Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic ; Mr. Joseph LE, Assistant Director of the Civil Cabinet ; Mr. Emmanuel EDOU, Delegate General for National Security ; Mr. KOUMPA ISSA, Governor of the Centre Region ; Mr. Joseph BETI ASSOMO, Prefect of Mfoundi and Mr. Gilbert TSIMI EVOUNA, Government Delegate to the Yaoundé City Council.

The plane taking the President of the Republic and Madam Chantal BIYA to Europe took off from the Nsimalen International Airport at 12 noon precisely.
