The National Committee of the therapeutic solidarity for North-South Hospital Networking known by its French acronym ESTHER has started holding its 3rd coordination meeting in Yaounde.

The meeting has been organised to evaluate the activities of this association six years after it was implanted in Cameroon.

Members of the committee were flattered by the figures revealed during the opening session.

So far, 43 treatment centres in the country have benefitted from assistance from the association, 27 laboratories have been equipped and 32 000 persons living with the HIV Aids virus are presently receiving treatment financed by the association. Also, close to five hundred doctors and medical personnel have received training organized by the association.

The two day meeting is also a forum to assess the level of execution of projects financed by the Debt Relief and Development Contract (C2D) in Cameroon.

Opening the session yesterday, the Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda, called on members of the association to close in ranks wage a war against the different pandemics that plaque the Cameroon society.
