21/10/2009 The world football governing body, FIFA proceeded in a re-classification of football teams worldwide recently.
Accordingly, the Cameroon’s national football team, the Indomitable Lions was 14th in the world, representing the first position in the African continent.
This latest development moves the Indomitable Lions upwards from the 21th position worldwide, at 3rd June 2009 classification.
In the African continent, Cameroon’s national squad is closely followed by the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire ranked 19th worldwide.
The results have been obtained thanks to the exploits of Captain Samuel Eto’o Fils and his team mates that have recorded three successful victories in the ongoing world cup and African cup of Nations qualifiers.
But apparently the one most instrumental to the success is Paul Le Guen the Head coach.
He took over the team at a time when book makers predicted very little chances of the Lions taking part in the world cup in South Africa.
Cameroonians are hopeful the national team shall not only hang on this first position but successfully gain its qualifying ticket for the world cup.
