President Paul Biya consoles families of the Guerre Lake accident

The President of thee Republic, Paul Biya has sent a message of condolence to the governor of the Extreme North Region following the tragic canoe accident that resulted to 19 deaths.

In the message, the President expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and dispatched the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Gendarmerie, Jean Baptist Bokam to visit the families of the victims.

Following the accident, the inhabitants and elite of Wirna sub division in Mayo Danay division appealed to government to develop more secure means of transportation.

They argued that, apart from the violent storm that freguently wreck canoes in the Guerre Lake, at least one person dies each month in the lake as a result hippopotamus attack.
