The Dja is back: CAMAIR-CO take-off insight

13/11/2009

It was exactly 9:15pm local time when the Dja landed at the Nsimalen international airport.

The Dja was returning to Cameroon after five months in Northern Ireland where, according to government officials, detailed maintenance and repairs had been carried out.

Pierre Ndzana, pilot in command who flew the plane to Cameroon was visibly satisfied “We had a safe flight, the plane is all new after the detailed technical adjustments and maintenance work” he said with an assuring smile.

Welcoming the Boeing 767-300, the Minister of Finance, Essimi Menye, revealed that about 3 billion CFA francs was spent during the Dja’s five month stay in Ireland.

Referring to the effective take-off of CAMAIR-CO, Minister Essimi Menye said the management team is working to put in place the necessary logistics for the air transport company to go operational.

“The air transport licences for the plane would have to be obtained, qualified staff recruited and other logistics put in place. In this regard an international call to tender for the recruitment of a General Manager, Director of Finance and Director of Exploitation  has been launched”, Essimi Menye emphasised.

The plane with a new inscription, “CAMAIR –CO”, the Cameroon Airlines Corporation, would be leased out to the Cameroon Airlines Corporation, the minister noted.
