Updates on the economy: World Bank bigwig in Cameroon / Forest revenue channelled to the owners

1. World Bank bigwig in Cameroon

The vice president in charge of Finance and the Treasury at the World Bank Group, Nina Shapiro, has been granted audience by the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Louis Paul Motaze.

Madam Nina Shapiro is in Yaounde for a regional tour during which she will be presenting the International Finance Corporation’s vision on the development of regional capital markets.

 
2. Forest revenue channelled to the owners

Forest areas in Cameroon will henceforth received increased direct benefits from Forest revenues.  A memorandum of understanding to that effect was signed yesterday between the Ministry of Forest and Wildlife and the Association of Forest Councils in Cameroon.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Forest and wildlife, Elvis Ngole Ngole, said the agreement is aimed, at empowering councils and fostering the policy of decentralisation.
