Diplomacy: Paul Biya offers financial assistance to Haiti

The President of the Republic H.E. Paul Biya has ordered the disbursement of the sum of five hundred million CFA Francs to the people of Haiti following the devastating earth quake that hit the country two week ago.

The financial aid is in addition to a number of Cameroonian Police currently working within the United Nations Mission in Haiti.

The quake according to reports has claimed over 1500 live, injured over 2000 others and left more than a million homeless.

The quake that destroyed the country’s capital city, Port-au-Prince reportedly reduced the presidential palace to rubble.

Two Cameroonians are reported missing in Haiti. In the meantime, the contingents of Cameroonian Police working within the United Nations Mission in Haiti are said to have survived the disaster.

President Paul Biya’s assistance adds financial and material aid that the international community have been deploying to the country.
