1.African states encourages hasten attainment of the MDGs

Recommendations have been made for African Governments to increase their budgets on development projects, and for more involvement of the civil society in decision making in order to reach the target of the millennium development goals.

These recommendations were made by organisations involved in the promotion of human rights, peace and social development, during a workshop to evaluate the progress of the millennium development goals in Africa. The evaluation meeting shows that the rate progress towards the attainment of the millennium development goals is slow. The meeting is in view of an international summit of Heads of State to hold in Rio, in September 2010.

2. A new bridge to ease movements over Lokomo River imminent

A bridge worth 4.5 million CFA francs shall soon be built over the Lokomo River, in Salapoumbe, Boumba and Ngoko Division of the East Region.

The bridge when constructed will ease trans-boarder traffic flow between Cameroon, Congo and the Central African Republic. The Secretary General at the Ministry of Public Works, Jean Robert Mengue Meka, recently laid the foundation stone of the bridge, which comes to replace one, that collapsed in February 2004
