Scientific: 2017 research year launched
19/10/2017The Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, Madeleine Tchuinte has chaired the fifth edition of the Scientific Convocation that ushers-in the 2017 research year.
The theme for reflection was “Challenges of consolidating a critical mass of researchers for the development of Cameroon.”
The ceremony at the Yaounde Conference Centre this 18th October 2017 brought together over a thousand scientific researchers who came to exchange notes on a better scientific year.
On the occasion, Minister Madeleine Tchuinte encouraged the science family to produce high quality scientific and technological innovations.
The Minister exhorted all to stay in touch with the business world that promotes innovation-driven competitiveness.
The researchers got an inaugural lecture from a Chief Research Officer at IRAD, Dr Mathurin Tchatat.
The Chief Research Officer argued that, to achieve development, it is necessary for Cameroon to have a critical mass of researchers capable of generating knowledge, technologies and innovations.
Scientific honours were given to an outstanding researcher, Dr Vincent Tanya Ngwang.
Recently promoted and newly recruited researchers were also presented during the ceremony.
The Scientific Convocation was institutioned to encourage researchers come together and reflect on the future of research in Cameroon.
