Theatre du Chocolat: The famous troupe launches artisitc season

26/10/2017The Theatre du Chocolat, a very famous theatre troupe in Cameroon will launch its artistic season on Saturday 4th November 2017 at the Yaounde Conference Centre.

The artistic season is part of the theatre troupe’s project, “Theatre in School, Theatre for all” which aims at introducing children into the world of drama.

This information was made known this 26th October 2017 during a press conference in Yaounde.

The Director of Theatre du Chocolat, Etoundi Zeyang says after the event at the Yaounde Conference Centre, the theatre troupe will go to the East Region.

Etoundi Zeyang explains that the troupe intends to enable children in the regions be exposed to theatre like their peers in Yaounde and Douala where the displays are more frequent.

On Saturday 4th November 2017 from 2pm to 4pm at the Yaounde Conference Centre, children will be treated to games and short plays including the stories of “Abole” and the famous “Bobbo and Mangetou”, amongst others.

After the Yaounde encounter, the theatre troupe goes to the East Region following the schedule below:

– Bertoua, 7th to 10th November 2017

– Belabo, 13th November 2017

– Dimako, 14th November 2017

– Doume, 15th November 2017

– Ambong-Mbang 16th to 17th November 2017

– Kemtzou, 29th November 2017

– Batouri, 30th November to 1st December 2017

The Theatre du Chocolat is a drama centre for children and young people, created in March 1981. The troupe has become famous thanks to the adventures of “Bobbo and Mangetou”, its key characters.

It is worth mentioning that Theatre du Chocolat is organiser of FATEJ (African Theatre Festival for Children and Young People), a project intended to familiarise young children with theatre and other related experiences.

During today’s press conference, organisers announced  the 12th edition of FATEJ. The event is scheduled to hold from 9th to 16th November 2018.
