2018 Tropicale Amissa Bongo: Australian born Brenton Jones Honours Delko-Marseille with First Win
Australian-born Brenton Jones has grabbed the first victory of the second leg of the 2018 Tropicale Amissa Bongo, this Tuesday 16th January 2018.
The 26-year-old cyclist with the French team Delko-Marseille is the first Australian cyclist to win the race in Gabon.The second stage sprint took place from the town of Ndende to Fougamou, covering a distance of 173km.
Six men broke out from the splinters in an attempt to take home the trophy.

Brenton Jones from Delko-Marseille overtook the 6 splinters at the final stage and emerged winner.
The first five winners of the second stage of the competition include;

3) Lucas Carstensen from Bike Aid
4) Meron Abraham from Bike Aid
5) Reguigui Youcef from SOVAC-Nature4ever

Meanwhile, German-born Castensen Lucas, cyclist from the team Bike-Aid won the yellow jersey during the first stage of the race on Monday 15th January 2018.
The race took place from Langon to Lamberene. The winner covered a distance of 146.6km/h in 3hours 41 minutes and 52 seconds with an average time of 39.64km/h.
Thirty-seven cyclists were classified within the winning time. Clovis Kamzong Abessolo, the 1st Cameroonian, ranked 36th in the general classification of the 89 cyclists.
Ghislain Sikandi the 2nd Cameroonian, came 28 seconds after the winner of the yellow jersey, and was ranked 45th.
The 3rd Cameroonian Eric Ngomeni Kuissi, came at the 47th position and the 4th Cameroonian Damien Tekou came 29 seconds after the yellow jersey and occupied the 49th position.The 5th Cameroonian Priso Lobe Alain came at the 56th position and the 6th Cameroonian Ngeh Martin came at the 57 th position.
Cameroon is ranked 10th out of 15 participating teams.The competition will run from Monday 15th to Sunday 21st January 2018 and the third stage continues on Wednesday 17th January 2018.
