MINDHU: Hysacam to improve on waste disposal
The Minister of Urban Development and Housing Jean Claude Mbwentchou this Thursday 12th January 2018 has embarked on an inspection tour to all the waste disposal sites owned by the the garbage disposal company Hysacam.
The visit which began at midday was out to ensure that the Hygene and Sanitation company effectively carries out its duty, especially as the CAF inspection team is already in the country to assess Cameroon’s readiness in hosting the 2019 African Football Cup of Nations.
The Minister was accompanied by his close collaborators including the Secretary of State for Urban Development and Housing Marié Rose Dibong, Officials of the Yaounde City Council led by the Government Delegate Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, and those of Hysacam.
The inspection team toured the City of Yaounde making a stop in the following places ear-marked for heavy waste disposal: Manguier, Etoudie Market, Olembe, Akassia Market, Biyemassi Lac, Mendong Market, Mvogbi Market then to the Hysacam Head Office at Nkolfoulou near Soa.
At the Hysacam Head Office the inspection team received some lectures on waste disposal and treatment.
In some of the waste sites, it was visibly clear that Hysacam has resumed work after a one year withdrawal due to failure of financial settlement by the government.
In other places like the Etoudie Market, Biyemassi Lac and the Mendong Market, more work has to be intensified given that garbage had stockpiled leading to an increase rate of mosquitoes and carbondioxide as most City dwellers cried out.
The Government Delegate to the Yaounde City Council Gilbert Tsimi Evounda during the occassion announced that other waste disposal companies will be welcomed in the days ahead, so to ensure that the City is properly kept cleanclean.
