MRC congress: Delegates strategise for 2018 elections

The second national convention of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM political Party has opened at the Yaoundé Conference Centre. Supporters of the party starting gathering at the Conference ground by about 8:00am and proceeded with registration formalities.

According to organisers, at least 3000 delegates from the ten regions of Cameroon are expected to attend the event.

The conference will discuss different issues related to the welfare of the party and put in place a strategy for different elections scheduled in the country in 2018.

The Vice President of the CRM, Tabi Johnson said the convention is the decision making organ of the party. The three day gathering from the 13th to 15th of April will feature the reorganisation of the party’s executive as well as the election and endorsement of candidates for future elections in the country.

The delegates attending the conventions will elect leaders of the women’s wing of the party. They will also renew the executive of the youth wing and  select candidates who will represent the party during upcoming elections in 2018.

The current is meeting is the second convention since the MRC party was founded in 2012. The first convention was organised in the same year under the supervision of the party’s National President, Maurice Kamto.

According to the programme, elections are expected to begin at 6:30pm with the Election of the National Directory of Women and the Election of the National Youth Directory.

On Saturday, 14th April, the key point will be the report of the Deputy National Secretary in charge of Finance – National Treasurer and the adoption of the amended statutes and rules of procedure of the party.

The office for the election of national directory will also be established to supervise the elections of different lists of candidates.  After the elections, the CRM Candidate for the Presidential Election will be invested.

Members of the National Board elected by youths and that elected by women as well as members of the new elected National Directory will be presented to the assembly on Sunday, 15th April 2018.

The Candidate of the MRC party for the next Presidential election will be expected to deliver a speech of acceptance of nomination which will mark the close of the Second Ordinary Convention of the CRM party.
