Preparations for the 2O18 Grand Prix Chantal Biya international cycling tour have heightened in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Ahead of this year’s edition of the race, the Adviser of the International Union of Cycling in Africa, Laurent Bezault is on a working visit in Cameroon.
The expert who arrived on Monday 21st Ausgust 2018 will use his four day visit to evaluate the state of progress and the level of preparedness.
As part of his inspection mission, Mr. Bezault was received in audience by Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mpkatt.
The meeting this Thursday 23th August 2018 was a platform for the two to chat best ways for the successful organization of the 2018 Grand Prix Chantal Biya international cycling tour.
Minister Bidoung Mpkatt also used the audience to thank the International Cycling Union and the African Cycling Confederation for their assistance in organizing the event.
Mr Bezault was accompanied by the President of the Cameroon Cycling Federation, Honore Yossi.
The visiting Adviser of the International Union of Cycling later participated in the first enlarged preparatory meeting of the organizing committee.
The meeting had behind the benches presidents, vice presidents, rapporteurs, members of the sub-committees of the organizing committee.
First things first,Minister Bidoung Mkpatt installed the members of the organizing committee and urged them to get to work immediately to ensure a successful race.
This year’s edition of the cycling race will witness the participation of Women for the first time in 18 years.
The highly awaited competition will be organized between 26th-30 September 2018
Just to note that, the overall winner of the 2017 edition of the race was Cameroonian born Clovis Kamzong Abessolo from SNH Velo Club.
Dutch cyclist, Peter van Agtmaal, and Yves Ngue Ngock from Cameroon are the highest winners, with two titles each.
