The first campaign outing for the CPDM candidate, Paul Biya took place at the Maroua Municipal Stadium.
Paul Biya addressed the population and at the end, he surprisingly moved to the crowd.
He was submerged by excited supporters who had braved the heat to listen to their candidate.
Assurance from a candidate
The thirty thousand people present at the rally left with the assurance that Paul Biya’s special attachement to the region is unshakable.
The incumbent was proud of a people who remained steadfast in pushing back Boko Haram.
He said this is time for reconstruction. The major announcement is the construction of a railway line from Ngaoundere to Djamena through Kousserie amongst other projects in view.
The CPDM candidate however said one of the country’s present challenges is to restore peace in the North West and South West Regions that have been rocked by secessionist movements. He says the population needs to be protected.
The pledges from the people’s representatives
Before his address, the Governement Delegate to the Maroua Urban Council, assured the CPDM candidate that Maroua has already made her choice.
He expressed gratitude to the incumbent for the countless socio-economic development projects realised in the region.
