Forum on China-Africa : A new era in partnership begins

The Forum on China-Africa cooperation effectively started this 3rd September 2018 in Beijing. Some fifty-three African countries are meeting to finetune mutually beneficial partnership with China.

Focus is on specific domains including industries, ICTs, infrastructure, trade, environmental protection, peace/security and people to people exchange.

In his keynote address China ‘s President Xi Jinping.
assured his African peers that his country is willing to foster the continent’s developement without any hidden agenda. He announced that China will put in place a peace and security fund in Africa worth US$60 billion within the next three years.
The Secretary General of the United Nations and that of the African Union took turns to salute this south/ south cooperation which especially, has been intensified since Xi Jinping became President.
The Chairman of the African Union, President of Rwanda Paul Kagame stated that this cooperation will be more beneficial to the African continent if the private sector avails itself of the many opportunities .
He also said African institutions need more expertise in monitoring transactions.
The meeting is co-chaired by President XI Jinping of China and Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa.
The encounter holds at a time when the African continent is determined to speak with one voice. Leaders are keen on the agenda 2063 and the millenium developement goals.
It is the third time the Forum on China-Africa holds, the first encounter was organised eighteen years ago.
