2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations: 35 Intermediate Lions summoned to camp
A total of thirty-five Under-23 lions have been called to camp ahead of the upcoming qualifier match with Chad, counting for 2019 U-23 AFCON in Egypt.
The list of local intermediate lions was published this Tuesday 23rd October 2018 by the new Head Coach of the U-23 Lions squad, Rigobert Song Bahanag.
Facing the press at the FECAFOOT headquaters for the first team since his appointment, the former indomitable lions superstar and captain said his top priority will be to qualify the team for the upcoming 2019 football jamboree.
The emblematic former player expressed satisfaction with his technical desk, a crew he described as matured and experienced.
Responding to a question on why the 35-man squad is made up of only local players, “Manyang” said it is his wish to detect and exploit local talents and reinforce junior profession football in the country.
Rigobert Song Bahanag also revealed his intent to work closely with Clarence Seedorf and Patrick Kluivert in building an agile squad ahead of the 2019 U-23 AFCON in Egypt.

The immediate challenge of this technical bench is the upcoming qualifier match with Chad, counting for U-23 AFCON.
The first round leg of the qualify match against Chad is scheduled to take place on 16th November 2018 in Yaounde while the return leg will be fielded in Ndjamena on 20th November 2018.
The 2019 U-23 AFCON will be played in Egypt as from 8th-22 November 2019.
Ths tournament will determine which three African teams will compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Japan
The new squad is expected to be in Camp this Thursday 25th October 2018
