2018 Swearing in: Festive crowds welcome President Paul Biya at the State House

Crowds of Cameroonians jumped into celebration, as the Presidential Motorcade drove to the Unity Palace after the Swearing in.

They waved flags, sang and danced as the Presidential Motorcade drove to a halt at the main entrance of the Unity Palace.

The newly sworn-in President alighted from the vehicle for a review of the Presidential Guard.

The military ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem.

The President of the Republic received the honours of the Presidential Guards from another vehicle.

As the vehicle drove slowly to the Unity Palace, there was an outburst of euphoria.

Crowds of supporters who had lined up in the gardens to caught a glimpse of the first couple began jubilating.

President Paul Biya accompanied by his wife Chantal greeted the anxious crowd that had gathered, to have a first contact with the newly sworn-in Head of State.

At the end of the red carpet trail to the Unity Palace, the commander of the Presidential Guard pledged the corps loyalty to the Head of State.
The President of the Republic moved under the vault to enter the Unity Palace.

The Presidential Guard that paid allegiance to the President of the Republic of Cameroon who is also the Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces is a specialised elite corps of the military.

It’s principal mission is to the protect the Head of State, his family and the guests.
