2018 end of year festivities : The significance of Christmas

“Christmas celebration was no where commanded in the scripture to be held “ Bishop Dr Frank O’Osakwe speaks on  Christmas and its significance .

Is Christmas Biblical ?

Christmas celebration was no where commanded in the scripture to be held. 25th December was a day set aside by Emperor Aurelian in  AD274  for the festival of Natalis Solis Invicti .The birth of the unconquered sun was later christianized as a date to celebrate the birth of the son of light. It was never a christian festival. The false pagan custom was merged with the worship of the true God. Christ was not born in december. Therefore the celebration was not commanded by God but a tradition of men. Mark 7:9. We were commanded to celebrate the death of Christ.

What is the signification of Christmas?

It is supposed to be indeed a spiritual feast that would cause people to have a deeper reflection on what God through His son had done for mankind. And bring them to their knees in acknowlegment to God’s loving kindness to mankind .

How should a christian celebrate christmas?

A true Christian should see this celebration differently from the way the people of the world do. For them it is the for eating and drinking, going to parties, having new friends. The spiritual implication is religated to the background.
