Venezuela remains in political turmoil

Venezuela’s self-proclaimed leader Juan Guaido has addressed a missive to British PM, Theresa May and the Governor of the Bank of England , Mark Carney asking them to prevent President Nicolas Maduro from accessing the country’s gold in the UK central bank. He argues that government officials loyal to president Maduro plan to sell off the country’s foreign gold reserve in the UK. The government officials, he continue, are planning to move the profits to Venezuela’s central bank.

Entertainment: America’s Superhero movie does it again

America’s superhero movie “Black Panther” has won the prize for best cast award at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). The movie got the prize for the best action performance and outstanding performance by a cast in motion picture.

China: A human rights lawyer sentenced

Chinese human rights lawyer, Wang Quanzhang, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for state subversion.The 42-year-old’s prison sentence comes three years after his sudden disappearance. He was among lawyers arrested in the 2015 crackdown in China.
