Officials of the Ministry of Trade say the importation of diapers will be temporary suspended pending investigations on bad quality disposable diapers sold in the market.
The decision was taken during a meeting in Yaounde grouping stakeholders, on Tuesday 12th February 2019.
During discussions, the stakeholders assured the assembly that as soon as diapers imported into the country are accompanied by information to certify the quality, the measure will be lifted.
In the meantime , representatives from the Ministry of Health, Mines, Industries and Technological Development, LANACOME, ANOR all in charge of quality control , agreed to continue investigating rumours of toxic substances contained in diapers on sale in Cameroon.
The stakeholders will also intensify control at the border and monitor the black market.
