National Assembly:MPs adopt three bills and receive one on radioactivity and nuclear security

The draft law on the general provisions on radioactivity and nuclear security for civilian use and guarantees have been received at the National Assembly.

The bill was presented in a plenary session by House Speaker, Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on Wednesday, 19th June 2019.

The bill outlines the norms of protection of persons, goods and the environment from radioactivity and nuclear emissions.

The draft law compliments and supplements law number 95/08 of 30 January 1995 on radioprotection which does not cover fundamental radioactive and nuclear security concerns.

The law seeks to adapt Cameroonian laws to the recommendation of the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA to which Cameroon is a signatory.

During the plenary session, three bills deposited one week ago were also examined and adopted.

#Bill on the ratification of ordinance of 29 May 2019 modifying and completing certain dispositions of the finance law of the Republic of Cameroon for 2019.

# The draft law authorising the President of the Republic to ratify amendments of the Montreal protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer.

# The bill on the law authorising the President of the Republic to ratify the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.
