2020 Legislative and Municipal Elections: ELECAM Beefs Up Collaborators’ Knowhow
Elections Cameroon’s (ELECAM) central and regional collaborators are receiving a three day training on practical modalities to uphold during the upcoming 2020 twin elections.
The three day workshop in Yaounde was opened this Wednesday January 8, 2020 by the Director General of ELECAM Dr. Erik Essouse in preview of the February 9 elections.
The United Nations and the African Union are working with the election watchdog to ensure the required knowledge is transferred to the ELECAM personnel to organize a hitch free elections.
Personnel of the ELECAM will be schooled on the international standards of organising elections of such magnitude and what Cameroon’s Electoral Code demands.
The Director General of ELECAM Dr. Erik Essouse told the press after the workshop’s opening ceremony that the trainees will be better apt in working with the electoral list and have a better management of polling stations at the end of the three day session.
Dr. Esusse also said the elections watchdog will need to recruit volunteers in order to reinforce their working capacity.
Members of the Central Africa Economic Committee partnering with ELECAM to organize the training session say a successful election stems from good organization.

The representative of the Secretary General of the Central Africa Economic Committee, Bordo Amouli added that a well organised election guarantees peace and security in the Central African states.
Mr. Bordo said the Central Africa Economic Committee will work in close collaboration with ELACAM in the coming weeks up till the elections so that they unfold hitch free.
