Twin Election 2020: Procedure for accreditation of Observers

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has issued a release on February 2, 2020 informing the national and international Community accreditations of observers for the February 9, 2020 elections have been open.

According to the release the accreditation is a follow up to the publication of decree number 2019/612 of 10 November 2019 to convene the electorate for the election of parliamentarians and municipal councillors on 09 February 2020.

The release also indicates that interested partners and organisations working notably in the area of elections, democracy and human rights, to deposit the related files at the Central Mail services before the 3pm deadline of January 20, 2020.

The requirement for authorisation include the following documents

– an application addressed to the Minister of Territorial Administration

– a copy of an act to attest the legal existence of the association

– the list of names of observers indicating the areas of interest

– a copy of the observation report of a previous election or any other attesting document.

The accredited observers or the organisation shall be expected to bear their costs of transportation, lodging and other facilities during their activities on field.
