2020 Olympic Qualifiers: Cameroon vs Zambia; both coaches face the press

In the build up to the day-5 qualifier game between the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon and The Shepolopolos of Zambia, the two coaches have faced the press to talk on their level of preparedness.

 

The twin press briefing was organised this Wednesday , March 4, 2020 at the Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, the soccer ground to host the match.

 

During the exchange with men and women of the press, the head coach of the Lionesses, Alain Djeumfa said his girls are upbeat and ready to win the game with as many goals as possible.

The captain of the women’s national team of Cameroon, Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene on her part said they are out for nothing but victory.

She said her team mates are well aware of where to strike when they finally throw weights with the visiting Zambian team this Thursday , March 5, 2020.

Just to note that, the Zambian ladies have scored eleven goals, conceding just two sofar at the ongoing qualifiers of the 2020 Olympic Games.

The host team, Cameroon on her part has netted five conceding a total of four.

However, the head of Zambia, Bruce Mwape used the press briefing to acknowledge the strength of the Lionesses though he remains fearless.


“Cameroon is a good team.They have participated in a lot of competitions as compared to Zambia but that does not mean we should fear them. We played them twice in COSAFA and we beat them at the quarter-finals, though they succeeded to beat us 1-0 in the same competition. We are very much prepared to meet them.” Coach Bruce Mwape.

After the first leg game in Yaounde, Cameroon will travel to Lusaka, Zambia five days later for a return game.

The victor in this high profile match will represent Africa at the 2020 Olympic Games on Tokyo, Japan.
