Covid 19: PM Chairs Crisis Meeting
The crisis meeting to evaluate government’s response to the Covid 19 Coronavirus in Cameroon kicked off when country had registered five cases.
While the meeting was still on going, the Minister of Public Health, Manaouda Malachi who was also taking part in the meeting tweeted announcing five additional.
The new cases brings the number of infected persons the number of patients to ten.
The Prime Minister – Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute while chairing the crisis meeting, took stock of measures put in place and requested improvements.
Seventeen members of Government took part in the crisis meeting that discussed a nationwide strategy to contain the pandemic that has already affected more than 160 countries around the globe with about 178000 cases and 7040 reported deaths.
The possibility of anticipating the Easter holiday schools and universities as well as border restrictions were discussed, thou a final decision has not been made public.
The Minister of public health has however assured the population to remain calm and respect basic hygiene principles and reduced physical contact.
He said the first two cases have been clinically treated and have been placed under observation.
