Tiko: Twelve confirmed cases reported in District hospital

Eight persons  suffering  form  cholera are currently receiving treatment at the Isolation Unit of the Tiko District Hospital.

All eight persons are among the twelve confirmed cases recently reported by the officials of the hospital .

Two persons out of the 12 cases have so far been discharged from the hospital, and a four year old girl died on February 22 , 2020.

The first case was confirmed on February 14, 2020 when a man who presented signs of the disease was rushed to the hospital.

Five others from the same family, presenting similar symptoms were later rushed to the hospital, among them the late four-year-old girl.

Most of the persons concerned had reportedly travelled from the endemic Manoka in Douala through the Tiko wharf.

To limit the spread of the disease, the Regional Delegate of Health for the South West region, Dr. Ebongo Zacheus Nanji says control measures have been stepped up at the health post.

Staff in health facilities within the district will equally be increased.
