The Minister of Basic Education Prof. Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa during a press briefing on Wednesday May 27, 2020 said the results of the special recruitment will be out few days from now.
More than 10,000 Nursery and Primary Schools out of the 19,000 Cameroon have suffer from lack of qualified teachers , but things will soon change thanks to the special recruitment of 12000 grade one teachers for the next 4 years.
This is an initiative of government with the financial assistance of the World Bank worth 100 billion US dollars to recruit qualified teachers to reinforce the basic education system known as PAREC.
200 teachers have been selected from each region of the Country and will start working during the coming academic year 2020/2021 for the first phase.
In the Centre ,North and Far North Regions, more teachers have been selected compared to the other parts of the country due the high demand there.
They were selected from the 35000 files received by the commission in charge and candidates selected were those below the age of 40 instead of 32 the highest public service age recruitment.
The finalists are expected to be exemplary teachers and give pupils quality education.
The special recruitment will also render operational the strategy of the education system in Cameroon within the perspective of attaining the sustainable development goals number 4 .
