COVID-19 : Boarding passengers to present negative results when boarders reopen
As Cameroon prepares to reopen its borders, the government has said all boarding passengers will have to present negative COVID-19 results of not more than three days.
On July 12, the Public Health Minister, Dr. Manaouda Malachie in a tweet said, ” passengers who will not comply will be prevented from traveling with the airlines”.
The decision to reopen the borders comes after exactly four months of managing the COVID-19 pandemic that was confirmed in Cameroon on March 6 .
Cameroon currently numbers 16,157 confirmed cases , 14,728 recoveries and 373 deaths .
Speaking at the daily press briefing on the pandemic, Dr. Fanne Mahamat, Director of Health Promotion in the Public Health Ministry says health teams will be stationed at all the country’s entry points to identify and single out passengers presenting symptoms of the disease.
The Ministry of Transport and General Delegation For National Security are jointing working on measures to ensure security across the national territory, when the borders are reopened.
Authorities also call on Cameroonians to continue the strict respect of safety and social distancing measures in order to prevent further spread of the disease.
