Mireille Lambo, the golden voice of Crtv’s 3 PM news has died, aged 48. She passed on this October 27 at the Yaounde Emergency Centre.
The iconic journalist was admitted to hospital on Saturday 24. She went into a comma on Monday night, and passed on 5 minutes later.
Mireille Lambo has been the presenter 1p.m news brief, anchor of the 3p.m news on Crtv’s national station and the 7:30a.m TV news presenter for over a decade.
She is particularly remembered for her soothing voice that brought the news to listeners and viewers in utmost finesse .
Mireille was recruited into the Cameroon Radio Television in 1999. She held several posts during her 21-year stay at the corporation. During these years, she inspired many young people to become great journalists.
The ace journalist was an exemplary professional, with a rare devotion to her work. Mireille Lambo was discreet, hard working and possessed great work ethics.
Since her death was announced, condolences have been pouring in from colleagues, listeners and well wishers.
Jean Atangana, Director of the Radio Newsroom wrote a heart-warming tribute to the late talented journalist. He particularly recalled the rare professional qualities she upheld.
“You were an example of punctuality, regularity, at all times irrespective of circumstances, a model hard to be reproduced”.
Ayi Mbile, a colleague and close friend also shared pleasant memories of the late professional.
“ Mimi my Sister was an extraordinary person. Never would she say anything bad about anyone. Never ! An unfading beauty of a gentle, caring and quiet spirit she was and remains forever. A pearl so precious, I always wondered whether she was real. Weahhhhhhh Mimi, you were indeed. Rest In Peace”.
Mireille Lambo leaves behind her family and colleagues to mourn her.
