2020 CHAN: Syli Nationale Of Guinea stuns Namibia 3-0

The second Group D game pitting the Syli Nationale of Guinea and the Brave Warriors goes down as the most shocking game on day-1 of the 2020 CHAN as Guinea thrashed Namibia 3-0 in their first group encounter at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium

The boys of Konfary Mohamed from Guinea jointly dished out experience and a good show suppressing Namibia in all almost all the angles.

Things seemingly turned around in disfavour of the Brave Warriors as early as 12 minutes into the first half when Guinea opened the scores.

A poor and a regrettable pass from Namibian defender, Hieta Immanuel to his goalkeeper was swiftly redirected by Yakhouba Barry to Edward Maova’s net leading to an early 1-0 score in favour of Guinea

Namibia unfortunately could not overturn the situation to their advantage. The Brave Warriors tried severally to go above the midfield but Guinea’s huge interest in doubling the scores was very visible.

The Southern African team exploited few opportunities to get an equaliser in the game but failed at every instance as the Guinean goalkeeper, Camara Moussa blocked all chances

Guinea launched a counterattack that ended with Morlaye Sylla scoring the second goal of the match for Guinea in the additional minutes of the first half (45+2′).

The artistry curler from Morlaye Sylla was such a breath taking show, beautiful and memorable to watch. Infact the goal is unbeatably one of the best in a total of nine scored already.

The continuous brilliance portrayed by 22- year Morlaye Sylla earned him the prestigious status of the Man of the Match.

One would have thought, the two goals against Namibia were enough until Guinea increased the goal tally to 3-0.

The third goal was a double score by Yakhouba Barry some six minutes to the end of the match

Guinea therefore enjoys superiority on group D with three points and three goals while Zambia counts three points with two goals.

The two teams, Guinea and Zambia started their African Nations Championship campaigns with comfortable victories against Namibia and Tanzania.

This Wednesday, January 20 marks the start of day-2 action at the CHAN with Cameroon to pick on Mali in group A while Burkina Faso takes on Zimbabwe.
