#CHANTotal2020: Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute Launches the Football Jamboree
Cameroon is now vibrating to the rhythm of the African Nations Championship after the opening ceremony this Saturday January 16, 2020.
The emotion packed opening ceremony was segmented in three phases: the speeches, choreographic displays and the opening match celebration has intensified.
The significance of the football tournament was highlighted before the opening ritual.
Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, personally represented the President of the Republic at the colourful opening ceremony officially declared open the 6th edition of the African Nations Championship. He made the declaration in English and French languages depicting Cameroon’s bilingual nature.
High ranking football personalities from Cameroon and the world at large including the CAF interim President and the President of FIFA attended the opening ceremony at the Yaounde Omnisport stadium.
At the end of the match, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute expressed delight and satisfaction at the organisation.
Cameroonians have expressed hope in their team following the competitive match full of anxiety, suspense and squandered opportunities that Cameroon’s intermediate Lions ended up winning by 1-0 against Zimbabwe.
The opening ceremony was also occasion to showcase Cameroon’s Cultural diversity through dance steps from the four cultural zones of the country exhibited in choreography.
