2021 Youth Day: Cameroonian Youths Offered Varied Empowering Opportunities
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou has launched the eleven-day commemoration of the National Youth Day with many activities for youth empowerment.
The eleven-day activities to mark the Youth Day in Cameroon were launched this February 1, 2021 in Meri in the Diamare Division of the Far North Region.
About the 2021 Youth Day
This year’s commemoration of Youth Day is centred on the theme, “Youth, Resilience, Challenges and Opportunities in COVID-19 Time”.
The activities will culminate with the celebration of the 55th edition of the National Youth Day.
Empowering Activities in View
During the period, information, training, and exchange activities are to be carried out in the form of media campaigns. Radio and television programmes will spearhead by showcasing success stories amongst the youth. Elderly persons will also be invited to share their experiences about the first Youth Day ever.
Awareness-raising campaigns will also be carried out by Community Mediators. They will sensitise their peers on the respect of COVID-19 barrier measures and the respect of national symbols. They will also distribute flags.
Socio-economic integration activities are also on the menu. They will be carried out through the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education and its partner Ministries. The Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Centres across the country will also carry out numerous activities. Moreover, the usual Youth Village at the National Museum will include fairs and forums showcasing socio-economic opportunities.
