COVID-19 : Government and Traditional healers in search of a cure
The government of Cameroon and traditional healers have agreed to continue working in synergy in search of a possible cure for the global COVID-19 pandemic.
During a meeting on Friday March 18, 2021, Cameroon’s Public Health Minister, Dr. Manouda Malachie said the Ministry will collaborate with traditional healers to get an improved treatment for the pandemic.
He acknowledged that the combination of traditional remedies and conventional drugs greatly contributed to the management of the first phase of the pandemic.
One of such remedies is that produced by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Douala , His Lordship Samuel Kleda.
Thousands of persons who tested positive for the deadly virus said they were relieved after consuming herbal remedies, especially the Man of God’s remedies; ELIXIR COVID-19 and ADSAK COVID.
What does the synergy require?
The synergy between the Public Health officials and traditional healers will be guided by a series of measures.
Among the key announcements made during the meeting are;
– Actors of traditional pharmacopeia will systematically refer COVID-19 patients to health facilities
– Administration of traditional remedies on patients at primary stage of infections, on their request
– Facilitate clinical trials for traditional healers
– Financial support to traditional healers
– The provisions of grants to the National Drug Quality Control and Valaution Laboratory, LANACOME for traditional treatments presumed to be effective
– Traditional healers to educate the public on preventive measures.
It is the second time traditional healers and the government are coming together to seek a cure for COVID-19.
