Why are cases soaring ?
The government members are of the opinion the total disrespect of preventive measures largely accounts for the increase in cases.
Dr. Manaouda Malachie says Cameroonians have gone back to social activities like marriages and funerals, “without wearing masks or respecting social distancing measures”.
He warns that Cameroon “could prevent a second wave of infections and vaccination if preventive measures are not respected.
The Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele says respecting preventive measures must be accompanied by an unbeatable commitment to self discipline. “If there is no personal discipline from Cameroonians, all government efforts will be vain. There will be no Gendarme officers to compel people to wear masks or wash hands”.
As the figures continue to surge, the government calls on all Cameroonians to be responsible, and contribute their own quota to eradicating the virus through the strictly keeping to preventive measures.
